Nonprofits in Hays, Wiliamson, Bastrop and Austin counties, among others, are invited to apply for the grants. A full list of eligible counties is available online.

The grants will only be available during LCRA’s 2025-26 fiscal year, which begins in July and ends in June 2026.
Applications for the first grant will open July 1 and close July 31. Applications for the second grant will be available in January 2026. Nonprofits are invited to submit their applications online.
“Our goal is to support the Texans we serve,” LCRA General Manager Phil Wilson said in a news release. “Thanks to this program, volunteer fire departments across the area have new trucks, museums have roofs that don’t leak and community centers have commercial-grade kitchens that can enable them to host events and serve as emergency shelters. The grants assist with lights for ball fields, safety equipment for first responders and so much more, and we look forward to the next 30 years of supporting communities.”
The history
LCRA began distributing community funding in March 1996 and over the last 30 years has awarded over $54 million in grants, according to the news release.
LCRA awards grants of up to $50,000 twice a year to tax-exempt nonprofits. The two $100,000 grants for FY 2025-26 will be awarded in addition to these biannual grants.
