St. David’s CareNow clinics will offer school and sports physicals for K-12 students at a discounted rate of $35 until Aug. 31 at their 24 locations in the Austin area.
What you need to know
Children under the age of 18 should be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Necessary forms, medications and glasses or contact lenses should be brought to the clinic. Web Check-Ins are not required for sports physicals at CareNow, and the clinics take walk-in patients, according to CareNow’s website.
A sports physical checks the following, according to CareNow’s website:
- Height and weight
- Blood pressure
- Heart rate
- Hearing and vision
- Abdomen, heart, lungs, ears, nose and throat areas
- Strength, flexibility, coordination, reflexes and posture
- Menstrual cycles (when applicable)
The health care provider will confirm that the student’s immunizations are up to date before signing the sports physical form, which the student or guardian should take with them before departing, according to CareNow’s website.
Quote of note
“Pre-participation physicals can identify any potential health concerns that could affect your child's ability to participate safely in athletic activities,” said Dr. Zachary Cerini, St. David's CareNow Urgent Care market medical director, in a news release.
