The Strategic Housing Finance Corporation of Travis County—a nonprofit that works with developers to build more affordable housing—announced its new interim executive director Jan. 22.

Dianna Grey comes with over 25 years of experience bringing affordable housing to communities, most recently serving as the homeless strategy officer for the city of Austin from early 2021 to August 2023. Prior to her position at the city, Grey held the following positions:
  • Director of the Texas Program for the Corporation for Supportive Housing
  • Program director for the Enterprise Community Loan Fund
  • Executive director of Neighborhood Housing Services of Austin
She started her new role Jan. 3 after a “competitive” search process, officials said.

What they’re saying

"Affordable housing has become the No. 1 issue facing most urban communities in America today, including Austin-Travis County. It is paramount that area housing providers be focused, creative and resourceful to address the issue of housing insecurity adequately,” said Patrick Howard, the executive director and CEO of the Housing Authority of Travis County. “Dianna Grey, in her new role as SHFC interim executive director, will continue to advance the expansion and preservation goals of affordable housing for this community as she has done very effectively for more than 25 years.”

What’s next

The SHFC board has not yet begun the search for the permanent executive director; however, Grey will be considered for the position either by lifting the interim tag or having a new process where she is invited to apply, SHFC board President Julio Gonzalez said.
