Austin’s cold weather shelters have been activated for the night of Jan. 19.

What you need to know
  • Anyone needing a warm place to sleep can register to stay at a shelter from 5-8 p.m. at the One Texas Center at 505 Barton Springs Road, Austin.
  • Anyone needing shelter after 8 p.m. can call 311 or 512-974-2000 and will be picked up within an hour.
  • Residents can also take bus lines 1, 7, 10, 20, 30, 105, 142 and 801 to the warming shelters.
How it works

The city activates its warming shelters any time the forecast predicts temperatures 32 degrees Fahrenheit or below overnight or 35 degrees Fahrenheit with precipitation or a wind chill of 32 or colder.
