Bastrop’s annual Big Bang Celebration
Community members can celebrate Independence Day with the Bastrop Pet and Pal Parade, where all kinds of pets can strut down the heart of the city in patriotic attire and be considered for awards.

The annual triathlon includes a 500-meter swim in Lake Pflugerville, followed by a 13.2-mile bike ride and a 3-mile run around the lake. The race also has options for Olympic-distance participants and relay participants. Registration must be completed by June 26.

The Austin Symphony Orchestra will perform free concerts on Sunday evenings. Attendees can bring lawn chairs and blankets to sit on the Long Center’s lawn and enjoy some jazz music, classical music and more.

The PG-13-rated performance tells the story of 25-year-old Catherine who is learning to deal with her emotions following the death of her famous mathematician father. Dinosaurs are returning to the Wildflower Center this summer for its limited-time outdoor exhibit featuring life-sized dinosaur animatronics. Guests can walk the gardens and explore the history and science behind the reptiles.
