Austinites can beat the heat and summer boredom with the Austin Parks Foundation’s summer programming.

What’s happening

This summer, APF is continuing its In the Park Series with free activities to cool off in the pool or wake up at the park.

Movies In the Park will kick off with a screening of “The Half of It” on June 12 at Deep Eddy Municipal Pool in celebration of Pride Month. Moviegoers can watch from the water or the lawn. Dogs, lawn chairs, blankets and picnics are welcome.

A showing of “Moana 2” is scheduled for July 10, and “Splash” on Aug. 14.

For those looking to wake up and move this summer, APF’s Fitness in the Park program, in collaboration with Habitat Retreats, runs through Aug. 29 at Zilker Park.

Every Friday morning, Austinites are invited to the Zilker Great Lawn for a free, all-level 45-minute yoga session followed by a cold plunge at Barton Springs.
