Austinites will soon be able to head to the Malibu Barbie Cafe, a restaurant and roller rink inspired by toy company Mattel's doll, Barbie.
The family-friendly experience is popping up at Wanderlust Wine Co.'s downtown location this spring, offering a fast-casual menu from Master Chef finalist and Chopped champion Chef Becky Brown. All skate rentals for the roller rink will be donated to nonprofit Girls, Inc..
Events including cupcake decorating classes, paint parties and 21-plus only skate nights will be held during the cafe's run from April to June.
Mattel and media experiences brand Bucket Listers' Malibu Barbie Cafe has also opened in New York, Chicago, Miami, Minnesota and Houston.
“Bucket Listers is honored to continue partnering with Mattel, bringing Malibu Barbie Cafe to Austin after sold-out runs across the country,” Bucket Listers President of Experiences Derek Berry said in a news release. “Barbie has proven to be one of history’s ultimate icons, it means so much for us to bring exclusive experiences like this to life for our community. I cannot wait for the city to see what we have in store.”
Tickets for the experience will go on sale Feb. 17 before the cafe's official opening in April. Those interested can join the waitlist for tickets here.
