Downtown Austin’s dining options are expected to expand with a new restaurant concept by Sam Fox of Author & Edit Hospitality and artist Justin Timberlake in the works.

The details

The Twelve Thirty Club is moving into the historic space previously known as a former U.S. Post Office built between 1912 and 1914 designed by James Knox Taylor. In the 1960s, the building was gifted to The University of Texas at Austin and renamed for Lady Bird Johnson.

“I’ve walked past this building for years, long before we opened the Nashville Twelve Thirty Club, always imagining what it could become,” Fox said. “It’s been more than a six-year journey to get here, and this place has an incredible presence, like it’s been waiting for the right moment and the right kind of energy. We want to honor its history while creating something completely original for Austin.”

The restaurant will boast almost 35,000 square feet of reimagined design. As the second location, the space will feature some of the Nashville location’s signature offerings while also bringing Austin-inspired dishes and cocktails to the mix.

"After what we created in Nashville, I’m thrilled to be bringing The Twelve Thirty Club to Austin,” Timberlake said. “This city truly gets live music, and getting to restore the soul of such an iconic building while working with Sam again is incredible. We’re being intentional with how the space carries sound across every level, because how music lives in the room is just as important as the design. We’re creating a space that people will want to experience again and again."

What to expect

The restaurant will be unfolded across four levels each with their own atmosphere. The first level will be the home to The Supper Club, an all-day destination or lunch, dinner and weekend brunch with live performances.

Guests will also be able to find the Speakeasy which will be located down a hidden staircase and open on late nights.

The concept’s upper levels will be more exclusive with a private members club, a private lounge, members-only chef dinners, wine events, cocktail receptions and more.
