The Barton Hills neighborhood has a new pizza option with Joe’s Slice of Sicily bringing an authentic taste to the local market.

The details

Owner Joe Croce was born and raised in Capaci, Sicily before moving to the United States. He said he grew up learning how to cook from family members and always had a love for the skill.

After some time operating pizza shops in New York City, Croce moved to Austin five years ago and took a break from the pizza business. He decided to step back in the kitchen this year with the opening of Joe's Slice of Sicily with all homemade recipes.

Must-try menu items

Croce said the eatery is still rolling out all of its menu items and customers will soon be able to taste Sicilian Arancini, fried rice balls stuffed with beef and cheese.

On the business’s current menu, he said he recommends community members try the Nonna Pizza, a thin crust Sicilian pizza topped with tomatoes, basil, fresh mozzarella and garlic.

In addition to pizza, diners can order calzones, rolls, pinwheels, mozzarella sticks, wings, garlic knots, salads and sandwiches.
