The craft beer bar and eatery had previously taken over what was formerly Flying Saucer Draught Emporium in August 2023, with the taproom announcing its final day of business less than two years later in mid-April 2025.
“We leave behind a piece of our heart at this spot, filled with memories that we’ll always cherish,” the company wrote in a social media post. “From all of us at The Brass Tap-Austin, thank you for being part of our journey.
The closure follows a long stint in The Domain, which closed in 2022 after landlords terminated the lease.
However, the Round Rock location remains open, offering more than 60 draft beers, wine, cocktails, a full food menu and a spacious outdoor patio.
About the owner
Round Rock resident Steve Sheets got into the craft beer business back in 2012 after 50 years of working as a lawyer in the Austin suburb. Sheets opened the first Brass Tap location off Main Street in downtown Round Rock.
