The team behind long-standing North Austin Mexican restaurant Fonda San Miguel has pushed back the opening of its new concept, Tzintzuntzan—pronounced zin-zoon-zahn—which was originally slated to debut this spring.

What we know

The new restaurant will remain rooted in its authentic Mexican flavor, serving breakfast and lunch menu items. The establishment will also feature a panaderia and unique ice cream menu.

While it will operate independently from Fonda San Miguel, the two concepts will share access to a patio and garden area.

Tzintzuntzan, which means "place of hummingbirds," is being designed by renowned architectural firm Miro Rivera Architect and is owned by Austin local Tom Gilliland.
