Spanish bar and eatery Kalimotxo is reopening in the Arrive Austin hotel on the east side this fall.

The 113-seat restaurant from Emmer & Rye Hospitality Group will begin serving small plates, cocktails and wines in the new location mid-October.

What they offer

Dishes include a variety of tapas alongside larger plates, such as roasted prawns and Basque-style Texas wagyu streak with sherry-roasted piquillo peppers.

"Kalimotxo’s menu takes inspiration from the pintxos bars of San Sebastián and the classic restaurants of Madrid, all while still utilizing the bounty of Texas produce,” Emmer & Rye Corporate Chef Keith Rzepecki said in a statement. “Guests can interact with the menu in a multitude of ways, from enjoying a lengthy pintxos and tapas menu for snacks and drinks or indulging in raciones and platos for a full dining experience."

Beverage offerings from Emmer & Rye Bar Director Kate Houser include previous Kalimotxo staples and new cocktails, such as the Kaixo! with vodka, cappelletti, and blood orange vermouth; and the PCT with tequila, sherry tomato jam, olive oil, lime and salt. The wine menu includes several Spanish and Basque selections, and sherry flights.

Quote of note

"Our bar program's goal at Kalimotxo is to honor both the Spanish classics as well as nod to the country’s impressive and thriving cocktail scene," Houser said. "We will have some fan-favorite Kalimotxo cocktails on the menu along with some new faces. We can't wait to introduce you to the wild and wonderful fortified wines we're proud to pour or shake up your new favorite cocktail."
