Perched on the fourth floor of Thompson Austin, Arriba Abajo Rooftop Cantina will fill the former Wax Myrtle's spot, which closed Dec. 31.

Arriba Abajo will offer food, drinks and events both in the indoor dining room and on the rooftop pool deck.

Seasoned chef Marc Marrone will helm the menu, which will feature Mexican dishes from the Yucatan, Oaxaca and Tulum.

“I’m excited to bring a fun new dining concept to the city of Austin, whose menu fuses together the best of Mexico from coast to coast,” Marrone said in a news release. “We look forward to welcoming guests to gather, drink, dine and enjoy the skyline views from our rooftop oasis time and time again.”

The drink menu will offer craft cocktails, wines and spirits—with unique mezcal options and a private mezcal tasting room, according to the news release.

“Our hope is to create a destination that locals and guests can celebrate," said Nate Hardesty, managing director at Thompson Austin.
