Local restaurateurs Travis Tober and Nic Yanes will open their next concept, Murray's Tavern, in the former Gourmands Neighborhood Pub spot in East Austin in early December.

In a news release, Tober said the tavern would pay homage to his grandmother Murray, who taught him how to perfect the Rob Roy cocktail—which will be one of the signature house cocktails at Murray's Tavern.

A rotating menu with a selection of miniature cocktails will also be available in addition to a nightcap menu featuring old-school after-dinner cocktails.

Yanes will be at the helm of the culinary menu, which will spotlight tavern foods, such as pancetta and corn chowder served in a bread bowl—a nod to Gourmands Neighborhood Pub; Oysters Rockefeller; and hand-cut tagliatelle with butter, black truffle and Parmesan.

Some of Tober's other projects include Old Pal Texas Tavern in Lockhart and Nickel City in East Austin.

Yanes also directs the culinary selections at Juniper, The Dirdie Birdie and Uncle Nicky's—which recently closed in East Austin to move to a new South Austin spot.
