Once a bustling rail line, the construction of a trail in South Austin will bring new purpose into the bygone Bergstrom Spur transit corridor.
City of Austin officials broke ground Jan. 31 on the first phase of the Bergstrom Spur Trail, transforming the abandoned Union Pacific Railroad tracks into an east-west shared-use path.

Georgetown leaders discuss short-term alternatives to suggested $109M library expansion
Georgetown City Council members expressed concerns with the Georgetown Public Library’s previously suggested expansion time frame during a Jan. 28 meeting.
The original timeline would have the downtown expansion taking place in the next four to seven years. Officials’ concerns come as city staff navigate ongoing road projects, parks and recreation improvements and nearby downtown construction.

JuiceLand opens second juice, smoothie shop in Round Rock
A second Round Rock location of Austin staple JuiceLand opened at the Greenlawn Crossing Center in January.
The juice and smoothie was founded in 2011 by Matt Shook and has since expanded to 42 locations and counting in Dallas, Austin and Houston.
