What's happening
Ramen Tatsu-ya will open its smallest location yet at 2416 Guadalupe St., Austin.
The new spot will have exterior windows for walk-up service and outdoor seating on a covered bar and patio area. Ramen Tatsu-ya's full menu of Japanese soul food will be offered, including pork, chicken, and vegetable-based ramen and sides like edamame and rice bowls.
According to a news release, local artists and professionals will design the new space to include ‘drag-on’-inspired visuals.
"It's really cool to be opening up a location on The Drag,” said Tatsu Aikawa, Ramen Tatsu-ya founder and chef. “It was a special place for me as a kid. I would go skate and hang out with the skaters, go to arcades and dig the crates at record shops. It will bring back a lot of memories to be there and will be kind of like coming full circle."
Ramen Tatsu-ya first opened in 2012 and has locations across Austin and one in Houston.
