James and Patricia Cavender founded Cavender’s Boot City in 1965, back then offering just three styles of boots in their small East Texas town.

Since then, Cavender’s have opened across the nation, with 100 stores in 15 states, including two locations in Austin.

The company has remained dedicated to the “cowboy way of life," said Joe Cavender, eldest son and now business president.

"For hundreds of years, the hard work and integrity of ranchers and cowboys has shaped the American identity and fueled what's best about this country," Joe Cavender said in a statement. "... Cavender's honors the enduring values that bind us.”

The store features a wide selection of “authentic and enduring” boot brands and western wear, including Lucchese, Justin, Tony Lama, Laredo, Nocona, Rocky Mountain and Wrangler.
