$10B projects underway a mile from Capitol
Estimates from city officials indicate that more than $10 billion in construction projects are currently underway in downtown Austin—many of the them aiming to revitalize and expand different areas of the city's heart.
“We are a very successful city, and as a result of that, you have a lot of demand for improvements,” Mayor Kirk Watson said. “...There are going to be some eggs broken to create the omelette—but we’re doing it in a methodical way.”

Lake Travis ISD names Curtis Null as lone finalist in superintendent search
The Lake Travis ISD board of trustees named Curtis Null as the lone finalist in its superintendent search during a special board meeting May 1.
Null has been superintendent of Conroe ISD since 2018 and has 23 years of experience in the district as a deputy and assistant superintendent, principal and assistant principal, teacher, and athletic trainer.

Built-to-rent community coming to Kelly Lane
Homebuilder Taylor Morrison will break ground on its for-rent home community, Yardly, later this spring. The company estimates the first residents will move in by the end of the year, according to a news release.

Hooky to open in Hutto this May
Hooky Cinemas will open in Hutto on May 23, according to company representative Charlie Tiantawach.
The movie and bowling venue, formerly being built as EVO Entertainment, underwent a rebrand following Es Vedra Cinema's split with parent company Elevate Entertainment Group. Despite the split, Hooky's offerings and opening date will remain the same, according to Tiantawach.

New Braunfels-area MUD proposals grow
While only a few Comal County voters will have the opportunity to vote on municipal utility district-related ballot items in the May 3 election, the decisions made will impact future residents who move into the district boundaries.
This includes Comal County MUD No. 5—a new 621-acre district north of New Braunfels. If approved, these entities would join a growing number of MUDs rapidly reshaping development in the county.
