The details
Founded by Austin native and The University of Texas at Austin alumnus Aaron Lyons, Dish Society's newest home in the Bouldin Creek neighborhood follows the success of the restaurant's first Austin location in the Mueller neighborhood. The restaurant first opened in Houston in 2014.
"South Austin is buzzing with energy and growth," Lyons said in a news release. "The area is full of amazing restaurants, shops, and plenty of walkable and bike-friendly streets—perfect for the kind of people who love what we do. As always, our goal is to be that go-to neighborhood spot where you can drop in multiple times a week."
The new Dish Society takes over what was previously Picnik.
On the menu
Dish Society serves brunch, lunch and dinner using fresh, locally sourced ingredients from local farmers, producers and ranchers. Menu items include French toast, ranch-style eggs, fried chicken and biscuits, grain bowls, sandwiches and salads.
A drink menu with cocktails, craft beer, wine, mocktails and coffee drinks is also offered.
The new South First Street location features indoor and patio seating. There is also a walk-up window for takeout service and coffee.
