Abby's Learning Center in downtown Austin “embraces neurodiversity,” bringing the community an inclusive therapy center dedicated to all types of learning and exploration.

Inspiration for the center stemmed from owner and mother Tehila Spigel's search for care and treatment for her youngest daughter, who was diagnosed with autism at the age of 3.

“The center is a place of learning and a place where families can come and really feel connected. I want for all the families to know that we're going to do whatever we can for their child to be independent,” Spigel said. "... Give them the tools that they can use to really excel in our world."

The space features an indoor gym with two trampolines and acrobatics swings, interactive games, a sensory room, and a library with a large saltwater aquarium.

“There’s nothing else like it in Austin,” Public Relations Director at Abby's Learning Center Nancy Kapsner said.

Clinical professionals on staff follow a “loose structure” during sessions providing applied behavior analysis, speech and language therapy, occupational therapy, as well as sensory and music therapy.

All ages are welcome, Kapsner said, explaining that there is often a gap in learning opportunities for those over the age of 18. Additionally, Abby’s will offer space for parenting groups and training as well as teen social groups.

The center will be hosting a ribbon-cutting ceremony Feb. 25.
