Marci Bain is spearheading the new franchise along with her daughters Mackenzie, Madison and Brooke Bain. Marci and her husband Scott Bain have operated a construction company serving West Texas for over 25 years. She said she discovered Pvolve when she was searching for a fitness routine that could keep her motivated when traveling.
“A lot of people ask, ‘Well what is functional fitness?’” Marci said. “It just means that you use specific movements in your workout that mirror the kind of activities that you encounter in daily life.”
Pvolve workouts train the body to work out the way it was designed to move, she said. This includes methods like alleviating pressure on joints and focusing it on muscle instead. Pvolve uses patented resistance-based equipment such as a P. ball which targets the thigh, gluteal and core muscles, and the P. band which targets the arm, back and shoulder muscles.
Marci said she likes that the Pvolve workout is sustainable in that the “toughness” is not so high to the point where she is working against herself during exercise. She’s excited to introduce Pvolve’s methods of thinking about fitness, health and longevity to Austin.
“What you can do in your early 20s in a workout you're probably not going to be able to do in your early 50s,” Marci said. “Everybody has different reasons and different goals for doing their workouts, and I think it's just such an accepting environment and it’s so motivating.”
Marci said they are planning to open the first Pvolve studio in downtown Austin this winter. They are also looking at areas in Westlake, Bee Cave and North Austin for the other locations.
