The long-running local vegan kitchen Casa de Luz is opening a new location in East Austin.

Casa de Luz East is a new collaboration between the eatery and the Casa Este mixed-use property from State Street Properties. The location will officially begin serving daily lunch and dinner plates on June 28 and plans to begin offering breakfast later this summer, with seasonal menu updates to follow through the year. To-go items and premade meals are also available.

The nonprofit, communal-style kitchen and community center Casa de Luz has been in Austin for more than 40 years and maintains its location on Toomey Road just south of Lady Bird Lake and Butler Shores. The new east side space is intended to build on its established atmosphere and central daily offerings of one meal for a flat price.

“Much like our original village on Toomey, Casa Este offers a thoughtful and unique aesthetic while remaining true to our original Austin roots. East Austin will finally get to experience the joy of Casa de Luz, a truly peaceful and welcoming space to share a meal and genuinely know one another,” Casa de Luz founder Eduardo Longoria said in a statement.
