Cats and kittens looking for their new families will have their adoption fees waived through Austin Pets Alive in North Austin this weekend.

The details

The nonprofit animal shelter's Caturday event will happen at Domain Northside's Fablectics store, 11624 Rock Rose Ave., Ste. 110, Austin, from 10 a.m.-3 p.m.

Every cat will be spayed or neutered and fully vetted with updated vaccines and a microchip.

Some context

APA Adoption Manager Talya Wasserman said they host these events to "remove barriers from getting our cats into homes."

Since 2008, the shelter has saved more than 120,000 pets, according to the APA website.

In addition, APA has been recognized as the largest no-kill shelter in the country for nearly a decade, with a live-release rate of 98%.

Notable quote

"The more cats who go to forever homes, the more room we have to say yes to new cats and save even more animals from euthanasia," Wasserman said.
