The city of San Marcos and Capital Area Rural Transportation System are preparing to start public transit service detours as early as May 11 as a result of the Hopkins Street improvement project.
As the construction phase begins for the improvement project The Bus—the city’s public transit system—will detour onto West San Antonio Street when heading westbound and detour onto Belvin Street when heading eastbound, according to a May 7 press release from the city.
In addition, The Bus will continue the Crosstown Route 1, which begins at Walmart and travels along Hwy. 80 to Hopkins Street to Wonder World Drive and services the Christus Santa Rosa Hospital, formerly known as Central Texas Medical Center.
Instructions on where to catch The Bus will be found at each bus stop sign along the construction zone. Information will also be posted for the public at the San Marcos Station and in the Crosstown Route 1 buses in both English and Spanish.
