San Marcos and Hays CISD will be closed Tuesday as a wintry mix makes its way into the region Monday night. The National Weather Service is calling for significant icing resulting in dangerous driving conditions starting late Monday. Freezing rain, sleet, snow and low temperatures are also expected. Hays County is under a winter storm warning through 6 p.m. Tuesday. Total ice accumulations of up around one-tenth of an inch are expected with isolated totals up to one-quarter inch, according to NWS. The Texas Department of Transportation has been treating roads in anticipation of the snow and ice. The department is prepared to have workers rotate in 12-hour shifts and monitor the weather to help treat the roads.

Texas State University has also closed its San Marcos and Round Rock campuses Tuesday.
