Kyle City Council approved a Chapter 380 Economic Incentive Agreement on Sept. 3 for a one-time maximum $400,000 grant for utility improvements, including:
- Adding paved parking
- Replacing light poles, perimeter fencing
- Burying telecom lines
The council also approved a three-year restaurant incentive not to exceed $100,000 according to agenda documents.
In case you missed it
The project, dubbed Project Ember, will be a 2,000-square-foot restaurant. Hays Co. Bar-B-Que—which is owned by Michael and Asenette Hernandez—will be located at 505 S. Old Highway 81 in Kyle.
The restaurant will offer a large playscape for children, an outdoor stage for live music and an outdoor walk-up bar.

Owner Michael Hernandez said he and his family are excited about moving to Kyle.
“We see the benefit all the way around, not just for us, but for the community, the city of Kyle and the surrounding areas,” Hernandez said in a news release.

The dais will consider a rezoning request for the property at a future meeting, the news release states.
