Kyle City Council will continue its public hearing on Aug. 6 for expanding the boundaries of Tax Increment Reinvestment Zone No. 4.

The public hearing was left open on July 27 during a special council meeting.

The details

TIRZ 4, which is located in Limestone Creek, was created in March 2023 and totals 178 acres with city-only participation.

The proposed expansion looks to add 1,373 acres with 50% participation from both the city and the county to help fund the 3.1-mile extension of South Goforth Road, which is anticipated to cost $75 million.

By expanding the TIRZ, the city of Kyle will be creating a “sustainable funding mechanism” that will help fund the roadway project, according to agenda documents. The roadway extension looks to provide north/south movement and east/west connectivity.

What city staff are saying

City staff have initiated conversations with the area’s property owners and Hays County officials.

“These preliminary conversations have been positive, with a consensus on TIRZ expansion benefits,” the agenda documents state.

Looking ahead

After the public hearing, council will consider the item on first reading.
