San Marcos city officials celebrated the completion of a $6.7 million reconstruction project for Taxiway Alpha at the San Marcos Regional Airport, located at 1807 Airport Drive, on May 24.

The project, which broke ground in October, was funded with a Federal Aviation Administration discretionary grant issued by the Texas Department of Transportation, or TxDOT, according to a news release. The city of San Marcos also helped finance reconstruction for Taxiway Alpha by allocating $737,000 in general fund monies to the project.

About the project

Taxiway Alpha improvements include:
  • New signage and markings
  • Total replacement of the taxiway pavement
  • New LED lighting system
The improvements increase the overall safety for taxiing aircrafts and allow pilots more visual clarity when using the taxiway, according to a news release.
