Parks Operations Manager Bert Stratemann said there are components in the current park that need replacing such as the play equipment. Other renovations include adding shading, turf and a small skate area as well as a sidewalk that connects to the other loop in the park.
"We would like to take this opportunity to make improvements to the playground and walking path to go with the addition of the skate feature," Stratemann said in an email to Community Impact.
Park improvements will cost about $205,714, which will be funded by Community Development Block Grant and fee in lieu funds, according to Stratemann.
Improvements for Paul Peña Park will begin May 27 and conclude June 27.
