The Get Around Downtown free shuttle serviced by ECab of North America will stop operating in San Marcos on Feb. 29. The pilot program was initially launched on Nov. 7, 2022, and provides an alternative method of transportation around the Main Street District.

According to a city spokesperson, the program has expended all available funding, and there are no plans to resume the service at this time. Get Around Downtown completed over 16,000 rides covering a total of 13,964 route miles, according to a news release.

“The response we received from the residents, visitors, students and downtown employees who took advantage of the free shuttle service is very encouraging,” Multimodal Parking Initiatives Manager Charles Campbell said in a news release. “We are looking forward to expanding public transportation options for San Marcos in the future.”

Residents who have utilized the shuttle can take a survey on the Get Around Downtown program on the city's website. Those interested in taking advantage of the free rides before the pilot program ends can call 512-522-5269.
