A Neighborhood Meeting will be held at 218 Moore St. on Jan. 31 from 6-7 p.m. for a proposed student housing project near downtown San Marcos.

What you need to know

The proposed project, located near the southwest intersection between Lindsey Street and North Street, is being dubbed The McLain Student Housing Project, according to permit details found on the city’s website.

If the project gets approved, there will be three buildings with seven stories that makeup 361 units. There would also be an eight-story parking garage.

Looking back

San Marcos City Council received a presentation from city staff requesting an amendment to the Preferred Scenario for North Lindsey Student Housing from “Existing Neighborhood” to “High Intensity” for 1.13 acres in October.

The request was made by Shannon Mattingly—San Marcos’ former director of planning and development services—on behalf of property owners Peggy Taylor and Daryl Burttshell.

Mattingly now serves as the director of land use and entitlements at the Drenner Group, a real estate law firm specializing in land use, entitlements and real estate transactions in Central Texas.
