The fire burned a total of 15.5 acres. As of 5:30 p.m. Aug. 8, roads have been reopened, and the area has been deemed safe for residents to return, according to an update from the city of Kyle.
Updated 5 p.m. Aug. 8
Emergency crews are responding to a fire in the Aztec Village and Oak Hill mobile home park area off the southbound I-35 frontage road. The fire is being referred to as the Oak Hill fire. This comes just days after a 400-acre fire broke out in San Marcos.
The evacuation order has been lifted for affected residents, according to Kyle chief of police Jeff Barnett. However, roadways are still closed due to fire operations taking place. The fire remains at 25 acres and is 90% contained. The fire appears to be a road side start, meaning that something could have fallen out of a window, or chains fell out of a truck, said Andy Womble, public information officer for the Kyle Fire Department, but its origin has been compromised by firefighter efforts.

A call came in at 1:44 p.m. about a grass fire that started going toward some brush, said Andy Womble, public information officer for the Kyle Fire Department.
Residents in the affected area can seek shelter at the Kyle Public Library, located at 550 Scott St., or at the Kyle First Baptist Church, located at 400 W. Center St.
Those not in the affected area are asked to steer clear so crews can work unimpeded.
