Kyle City Council is set to vote at its March 22 meeting on a contract with Maruti Transportation Group Inc. for wheelchair-accessible vehicle services to be added to the city’s Kyle Uber $3.14 program.

The Kyle Uber $3.14 program has contracts in place with Uber for wheelchair-accessible vehicles that address most of the city’s Americans with Disabilities Act requirements, but the city is looking to expand its services by contracting with an entity to supplement that portion of the program, according to the contract between the city and Maruti.

At a previous meeting on Feb. 15, the council received a presentation from Maruti Director of Operations Parth Parikh to discuss improvements to wheelchair-accessible vehicle accessibility through MT Connect, an on-demand nonemergency medical transportation service.

The goal of the program is to guarantee trip availability to Kyle residents and visitors; provide multiple booking solutions for users through a call center and through the app; and to provide scheduled booking solutions up to two week in advance to ensure vehicle availability, Parikh said.

The contract outlines a $35,000 technology integration fee to ensure the city is set up with the proper Uber technology. The rider will still only pay $3.14, and the city will pick up the rest of the fare, up to $10.

If approved by the council, Maruti will offer services from 6 a.m.-7 p.m. Monday-Friday for a year, at which point the contract may be renewed.

The Kyle City Council will meet March 22 at City Hall, located at 100 W. Center St., Kyle, at 7 p.m.
