Early voting results indicate that a runoff election held Dec. 9 for Kyle City Council District 5 candidates Marc McKinney and Melisa Medina.

What you need to know

Runoff elections are initiated when candidates do not meet the majority vote requirement of 50% plus one vote. Medina garnered 36.62% of votes, or 5,513 ballots. McKinney received 36.32% of votes of 5,468 ballots, according to unofficial voting results.

What you need to know

Daniela Parsley, the current District 5 council member, has served one term since 2021 and did not run for re-election.


What else?

In early voting, there were 11,997 ballots cast citywide towards the city council race.

Polls closed at 7 p.m., although voters who were in line at 7 p.m. were still able to cast ballots.
