The polls have closed for the May 28 Hays County Tax-Assessor Collector Democratic primary runoff election and unofficial voting results are in.

With all precincts reporting unofficial voting results show Democratic candidate Jennifer M. Escobar skating by with a win after receiving a total of 1,475 votes, or 50.9% of votes. Her opponent, Democrat Jessica Sanchez, received 1,423 votes, or 49.10% of the ballots casted.

The details

Escobar received 348 absentee votes, 575 early votes and 552 votes on election day.


Sanchez received 456 absentee votes, 575 early votes and 552 votes on election day.

No Republican candidate ran in the Republican primary for the position.

Early voting results show Jessica Sanchez in the lead for Hays County Tax-Assessor Collector against Jennifer M. Escobar with 974 votes. Escobar has received 923 votes.

Sanchez and Escobar are both running as democrats. No Republican candidate ran in the Republication primary for this position.

Totals from ballots cast May 28 have yet to be released. Polls closed at 7 p.m., although voters who were in line at 7 p.m. were still able to cast ballots.

In early voting, there were 1,921 ballots cast countywide, which represents 0.72% of Hays County's 265,404 voters.
