The Hays CISD District 4 and District 5 board of trustees seats will not be on the ballot this election season as only incumbents filed for a place on the ballot, per district documents.

The details

The board of trustees approved an election order Jan. 27. Candidates were eligible to file for a place on the ballot between Jan. 15-Feb. 14, and incumbents Byron Severance and Esperanza Orosco were the only candidates who filed in their respective districts during the period.

Severance currently holds the the District 4 seat. He was first elected to the board in 2022 and also serves as vice president.

Orosco currently holds the District 5 seat. She was first elected to the board in 2016 and has previously served as president, vice president and secretary.


Keep in mind

Voters living within HCISD boundaries will still have the opportunity to vote for any of the five propositions on the $968.6 million bond during the election period, as the trustees also approved an election order for the bond during the Jan. 27 meeting.

Early voting runs from April 22-29, and election day is May 3.
