Amazon will host Camp Amazon for local students at the San Marcos Fulfillment Center June 18-22.
The area's inaugural Amazon Summer Robotics Challenge will host 60 students from Goodnight and Miller middle schools to inspire a continuous education in robotics, as well as science, technology, engineering and math.
Participating students will learn about the engineering design process, build future career skills, work with local professional engineers, create a competition robotic machine and work as a team throughout the entire process.
Robots created by students will be showcased for parents and community members once a date for the Amazon Summer Robotics Challenge Showcase is determined.
Amazon will also donate $10,000 to SMCISD toward its first summer robotics challenge.
