April sales tax figures released by the Texas Comptroller of Public Accounts revealed San Marcos had a double-digit sales tax revenue growth, while Kyle had a small uptick and Buda experienced a dip.
The comptroller released the most recent monthly payments to cities June 10.
The June payment, which generally reflects sales during the month of April, shows San Marcos with a 50.99% spike. Sales tax revenue generated by San Marcos in April amounted to $4.29 million as compared to April 2019 figures at $2.84 million. In the year to date, San Marcos has collected $23.81 million in sales tax revenue, a 20.61% increase from $19.74 million by the end of April 2019.
In Kyle, April sales tax revenue reflected a 7.62% increase year over year from April 2019, with more than $769,000 collected in 2020 compared to 2019’s more than $715,000. The city of Kyle has gained $4.69 million in sales tax revenue in the year to date, a 11.94% spike from the $4.19 million by the end of April 2019.
Buda experienced a 8.21% decrease in its sales tax revenue for April, with $615,677 acquired in 2020 and $670,746 in 2019. Despite the single-digit decrease in April collections, Buda’s revenue collection in the year to date increased 10.40% with $4.01 million received through April and $3.63 million by the end of April 2019.
