Austin-based birria food truck Love C Spot is family-owned by Santos Tobias with his wife, Cinci Tobias, along with their two children, Sirinity, 16, and Arii, 14.

The food truck opened its first location in South Austin in 2021 before opening a second location in Kyle in August 2023.

Santos and Cinci Tobias were scrolling through Instagram, watching different food videos before coming across a video of someone making birria. After a late night run to H-E-B in 2019, the couple returned home with all the ingredients to make birria. The next day, the two woke up and realized they made too much.

“We’re like, ‘Dude, what are we [going to] do with all this birria?’” Santos Tobias said.

Cinci Santos posted online offering to make free taco plates for anyone who was interested. One thing led to another, and the duo began making and selling birria tacos out of their home on the weekends.

On the menu

With over 56 items on its menu, Love C Spot sells quesabirria tacos, crunch wraps, flautas, nachos, quesadillas, tortas and more. Everything on the menu is also customizable.

Sirinity makes the rice and beans, and her younger brother Arii manages Love C Spot’s social media presence on Facebook, Instagram and TikTok.

“I think that was one of the best parts—just being able to create new stuff together as a family,” Tobias Santos said.

What’s special about it?

Cinci Tobias said Love C Spot’s authenticity in their birria recipe—which is from Cinci's grandmother Ninfa Sharp, who was from Guadalajara, Mexico—is what makes them stand out.

“It’s a big part of what we are because almost every other day or every week someone’s bringing my grandma up, and we just sit there and reminisce—without her, we wouldn’t be here,” Cinci Tobias said.

Love C Spot also looks to support its community through its weekly customer appreciation days. Every Sunday, the family will create an Instagram and Facebook post and randomly select a winner from each platform to receive two free Crave Boxes.

What’s next?

The Tobiases hope to move Love C Spot into a brick-and-mortar location in the future.
