Persimmon, a master-planned community in Buda, has officially opened sales for a selection of homes in its southeast section, as Phase 1 of the community is underway.

The homes will be delivered by December, according to MileStone Community Builder's website, with prices starting at nearly $493,000. The sales office is located at 1000 FM 967 in Buda, according to a March 6 news release.

The overview

Developed by MileStone Community Builders, the 775-acre community will feature 2,100 newly constructed homes ranging from 1,754 to 3,552 square feet, according to the news release. Floor plans start with two-bedroom, two-bathroom layouts and extend to five-bedroom homes with 4 1/2 baths.

The news release states that the community will feature an amenity center with a:
  • Clubhouse
  • Coworking space
  • Pavilion
  • Resort-style pools
  • Pickleball court
  • Playground
Persimmon residents will also have access to Buda’s trails and parks, including Garlic Creek Park and Buda City Park, and will be located near major transportation routes such as FM 967, FM 1625, SH 45 and I-35, according to the news release.

The background

The project took years of discussions with Buda City Council.

When the development was under review by Buda’s City Council, residents pushed back, citing concerns over strain on infrastructure and increased traffic.

On June 18, the council voted 6-1 to approve a development agreement with MileStone Community Builders, as well as an agreement with Bailey Land Investments LP and Armburster Land Investments to annex approximately 762 acres into Buda’s extraterritorial jurisdiction, according to previous Community Impact reporting.

In September, the council also approved a public improvement district and a tax increment reinvestment zone for Persimmon, according to previous reporting.

Notable quote

“Since we began conceptualizing the Persimmon community, we’ve crafted every detail to benefit the growing Buda area and its future residents,” said Trisha Thacker, new home sales counselor at Persimmon, in the news release. “The Persimmon community is a response to the strong demand for additional residential homeownership opportunities south of Austin, and we look forward to seeing the neighborhood grow and come to life.”
