In June 2022, the Kyle Planning and Zoning Commission approved a conditional-use permit for the construction of a Waffle House location at 5767 Kyle Parkway, as previously reported by Community Impact. However, the commission is set to vote on an extension for the permit June 13, as there have been delays to the project.

The original permit was valid for one year and expires if there is no construction progress within that time frame, according to agenda documents, thus the need for an extension. There are no changes slated for the original site plans.

Sylvie Germana, project coordinator for Waffle House, wrote to the city of Kyle that they are in the process of obtaining the building permit, and construction is estimated to begin in 2024.

Representatives for Waffle House did not respond to requests for comment as of press time.
