Hays County reported seven new COVID-19-related fatalities along with 10 hospitalizations. The data reflects the period from Oct. 25-27.

The Hays County Local Health Department reported seven COVID-related fatalities over the weekend through Oct. 27.

There are 460 active cases confirmed by the county and 789 active cases in the past 21 days. The active total Oct. 20 was 557, down from 1,524 reported Sept. 23.

The total number of fatalities from the disease in the county since the beginning of the pandemic was 396 as of Oct. 27, or 1.3% of the total confirmed cases since reporting began. There have been a total of 1,337 hospitalizations since that time, or 4.5% of all confirmed cases.

The Texas Department of State Health Services reported the total number of Hays County residents age 12 and up that are fully vaccinated is 64.7%. Nearly 12,000 people have received a booster vaccination.


Both Hays and San Marcos CISDs keep up-to-date COVID-19 dashboards of cases. HCISD has 71 active student cases. There are 17 active staff cases. There are not any classrooms actively in a remote learning situation.

SMCISD has seven active student cases and four active staff. All campuses in both districts are open.

The county is still offering walk-in vaccine clinics on weekdays from 8:30 a.m.-11:30 a.m. and from 1:30 p.m.-4:30 p.m. at the Live Oak Community Clinic, 401 Broadway, San Marcos, and they have the Johnson & Johnson, Moderna and Pfizer vaccines available.

Every Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to noon and 1-3 p.m., the Pfizer vaccine is available at CommunicCare, 2810 Dacy Lane, Kyle.


A drive-thru clinic is coming soon offered by MD Diagnostics at the Old Walnut Springs School, 300 Sportsplex, Dripping Springs, from 10 a.m.-6 p.m.
