Kyle City Council Member Yvonne Flores-Cale announced her candidacy for Kyle Mayor in a Facebook post on June 13.

The next election for City Council will be held Nov. 7 and include the positions of mayor, District 2 and District 4. Flores-Cale is a council member for District 2 and is running against incumbent Travis Mitchell.

Flores-Cale has served on the dais since November 2020 and has been a Kyle resident for over 11 years.

She graduated in 2008 with a degree in business and communication from the University of Iowa. In 2013, she earned her Master of Arts in legal studies from Texas State University in San Marcos. Flores-Cale has worked in the legal profession since 2009 and as a paralegal for over 10 years.

According to the announcement, Flores-Cale prides herself as being a "true servant of the people who places the needs and wants of the residents first." She plans to focus on infrastructure, transparency, public safety, responsible growth and building a "close-knit community."


Flores-Cale said with her, Kyle residents have a voice.

"I want to be a mayor for the people," she told Community Impact. "I'm excited and I hope that we make this a clean-cut race."
