The Hays County Local Health Department is expanding its services to a larger building at 101 Thermon Drive in San Marcos.

Health Department Director Tammy Crumley noted that the larger facility will accommodate staffing space and will provide more services to Hays County residents.

The department's expansions include STI treatment, childhood immunizations, an adult safety net for uninsured, underinsured and low-income residents.

According to a press release, patient health care services will continue to be provided by Christus Trinity Community Clinic, located at 401 Broadway St. New patients who are interested in qualifying for the County Indigent Health Care Program should apply at the new building.

Crumley said the move consists of three phases.

"Our Health Equity and Community Engagement Program team relocated to the new building over the past few weeks. Staff who don't see patients directly will be the next to move, followed by those who see patients, including our TB nurse and eligibility screening for indigent services," Crumley said.

The health department, which hopes to be fully operational by August, will celebrate the grand opening of the new location with a ribbon-cutting at its annual Back-to-School Fair.
