Tonight, the Hays CISD board of trustees will hold a special meeting to discuss a possible bond initiative for this year. The board will examine recommendations made by the Growth Impact Committee and possibly take action to allow for the continuation of the bond development process. In September, the school board authorized the committee to study district growth and consider the possibility of a bond initiative in 2017. After meeting regularly and reviewing district needs, the committee has prepared a recommendation ranking 23 projects. The combined cost of all the projects totals $265,026,591. According to a draft recommendation, the top three priorities for the Growth Impact Committee are the third high school, a 14th elementary school and a school building to replace the existing Buda Elementary campus. The special meeting will begin at 5:30 p.m. at Hays High School, 4800 Jack C. Hays Trail, Buda, and will include a public comment period for community members to address the school board.
