The park now has new amenities, including an outdoor restroom, a water fountain and bottle-filling station, as well as enhanced sidewalk accessibility, according to city spokesperson Mostafa Jalal.
The details
Jalal stated that the park attracts visitors from across the community, and the addition of the restrooms was a “long-standing priority” for the Parks and Recreation Department to ensure equitable and convenient access to restrooms for the many park users.
The $274,821 project was funded using a combination of Park Development Fees and American Rescue Plan Act funds.
Quote of note
“Dunbar Park is a place rooted in the rich history and vibrant culture of its neighborhood,” Jalal said. “It’s a place where generations have gathered for recreation, celebration and connection. We’re grateful for these federal resources that allowed us to invest in our community’s health, safety and quality of life.”
