Known for its high-end outerwear, Moncler opened next to the Gucci outlet in December, according to a news release. The French-Italian apparel manufacturer offers a selection of men’s and women’s fashion.San Marcos Workforce Training Facility

San Marcos city staff officially opened an expanded workforce training facility. The new facility is supported through a partnership with Austin Community College and Community Action Inc. of Central Texas, according to a news release. Beginning in April, ACC will offer Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning, or HVAC, courses at the site as part of its Skilled Trades Program.BRICO’s Pizza Kitchen

SipIt, which sells daiquiris and margaritas to-go, announced the opening of its new San Marcos location on social media. The new location is on Aquarena Spring Drive, next to Premier Cuts.Fen & Hallow

Owned by Heather Van Eck, the holistic collective will offer items for physical, mental and spiritual well-being. The shop will sell vitamins and supplements, teas and coffee, herbs, books, home goods like nontoxic candles and more items from local makers.

Joe’s Jeans

Joe’s Jeans, known for its denim and modern wardrobe staples, is set to open this May at the San Marcos Premium Outlets, according to a news release. Founded in 2001 by Creative Director Joe Dahan, the brand blends "everyday style with an LA-inspired aesthetic and a rock-and-roll edge," according to its website.Starbucks


Starbucks is set to return to the San Marcos Premium Outlets in Suite 925, the same location it has occupied intermittently over the past few years, according to a news release and the outlet’s website. The coffee chain, known for its premium teas, coffee, and pastries, is currently renovating the space, with construction expected to wrap up by mid-summer, according to a Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation filing. The Hungry Waffle


The food truck relocated from 1760 S. Business I-35, New Braunfels, to 1705 S. I-35 frontage road, San Marcos, in March. The waffle truck—which opened Jan. 12—is owned by Jennifer Casillas and her fiancé, Adam Tekien. The Hungry Waffle serves Leige, Belgian and bubble waffles along with waffle fries and tater tots.Closings

The Tanger Outlets location of Forever 21 closed at the end of March. The retailer filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy for the second time and is closing its U.S. stores, according to a March 16 news release. Forever 21 sold men's and women's apparel and accessories.Boardriders

Chili’s Grill & Bar


Chili's celebrated its 50th anniversary in March. The franchise was founded in Dallas in March 1975 and has now expanded to over 1,600 locations in 28 counties, according to the website of Brinker International, which owns Chili’s. The restaurant is also selling specialized merchandise for its birthday, such as vintage coasters, throwback T-shirts, trucker hats and skillet cookie candles, according to its website.Thundercloud Subs

Austin-grown Thundercloud Subs celebrated its 50th anniversary on March 23. The business was founded in 1975 by Andy Cotton and John Meddaugh, two friends who opened the business with only $2,500 to their names and a dream to sell submarine sandwiches. In 1989, the company decided to pursue franchising opportunities, and has 24 locations across the state of Texas and in neighboring states.
