The details
The food service distributor has been in Buda since 2011 and was awarded a $1,072,500 grant from the Texas Enterprise Fund, or TEF.
TEF serves as a performance-based financial incentive for companies with projects that would contribute significant capital investment and new employment opportunities, according to the Texas Economic Development & Tourism website.
The expansion is anticipated to create an additional 165 jobs and over $120 million in capital investment, the news release states.
What they’re saying
US Foods Area President Taylor McIntyre said Central Texas is a “critical” part of their distribution footprint.
Buda Mayor Lee Urbanovsky said the project will help create more job opportunities for residents—a critical component to creating a good quality of life in Buda.
“This is a top priority for city council, so we appreciate the support from the governor to make this expansion happen,” Urbanovsky said in a news release.
