1. New Austin-area professional arena football team set to kick off in 2027
A new arena football team is slated to make the Austin area its home, beginning its first season in spring 2027 as a member of the Indoor Football League, or IFL, team owner Vivi Lin told Community Impact. The team, which will be known as the ATX Draft, is “seriously considering” establishing its base of operations at the H-E-B Center in Cedar Park, Lin said.

3. Round Rock Burger King to get $300K remodel
A Round Rock Burger King location is set to get a fresh new look.
A project filed with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation shows the Round Rock Burger King location at the intersection of Sunrise Road and University Boulevard will undergo a $300,000 renovation.

4. New $2.2B Cedar Creek data center project, abatements under review
A proposed 2,842-acre data center and power campus—nearly twice the size of EdgeConneX’s three planned Cedar Creek campuses combined—could begin operating in Cedar Creek by 2028.
Pacifico Cedar Creek LLC filed a June 24 application with the Texas Comptroller for a project at 382 Earl Callahan Road, Cedar Creek, that would pair an unnamed data center tenant with a multibillion-dollar natural gas-fired power facility.

5. Pharmaceutical venture announces $500M expansion in Northwest Austin
Otsuka ICU Medical LLC announced plans for a $500 million expansion through a new facility and upgrades to its existing facility in Austin, with the goal of improving the long-term supply of IV solutions and supporting new IV products, according to a news release.

The city of New Braunfels has a new acting city attorney.
New Braunfels City Council unanimously appointed Nathan Brown to serve as the city's acting city attorney and removed Davidson Troilo Ream & Garza as the interim firm serving as city attorney following a closed session July 14.
