A new church is opening in Buda this fall.

The Vine Community Church is being launched by locals Joshua Clark with his wife, Amanda.

About three or four years ago Joshua said he and his wife felt God calling them to ministry in some way, which is when he decided to study theology to learn more. But church planting, or establishing a new local congregation, was never on their radar.

"[We] never really thought that church planting was really for us," Joshua Clark said.

The idea to launch a church cemented itself in the Clark's living room last August when they began evangelizing and discipling more and more people.

Although The Vine Community Church is Baptist-affiliated, Joshua said it has more of non-denominational feel.

The church is slated to launch out of the Onion Creek Senior Center on Sept. 8.

"We're super pumped," Clark said.
